coming late to the office

After 7 months of working, today was my first time coming late to the office. I got stuck in the traffic jam, on my way from Bandung to Jakarta. I take 4 AM bus (it was the earliest departure i could find). Usually I arrived in my place around 7.45 AM, giving me time to take a bath first before going to the office. But today, due to the accident around Bekasi, I got stuck in heavy traffic. Finally I arrived in my place a little before 9 AM. The accepted time for clock in in my office is 7-9 AM, which mean I’m already late for work.

Knowing that I will be late, I take sometime to get breakfast, tidy up my room, and then take a bath. Finally I went to the office at 10.30 AM. Luckily in my workplace we can take leave 0.25 days (2 hours work), in case someone got late, or need to run some errand first. With that, I’m allowed to come to the office at 11 AM and go home at 6 PM.

Going to Jakarta at Monday morning is risky. I already know that before, so the first time I’m doing it I already bring working clothes in my bag. I can go to office immediately without making a stop in my place. But after 3 times doing it and arrived before 8 AM I become careless, not making preparation for the worst scenario.

Jakarta ain’t hot as it was

My first arrival to Jakarta was around Augustus. Jakarta felt so hot, especially compared to Bandung. It only took a couple meters and I’ve been sweating a lot. Is it because I rarely exercise, or just my body couldn’t stand a hot temperature?

But now, it ain’t feel hot as it was before. Did I already adapt to it? Maybe. Or maybe thanks to the rainy season, that Jakarta temperature dropped. In fact, now I need a blanket to sleep at night.

Welcome Back Internet

It’s been almost 4 months I lived in Jakarta. To save expenses, i decided to not subscribe to any internet provider, except for my mobile phone (I choose the cheapest package for that :)). The problem is, I have very limited access of Internet in my office. At first it was okay, but then I realize the need of internet access. To have access to the latest news, tv series/movie, and more importantly to expand my skill in programming.

A few weeks ago, someone in my office brought a 4G modem. I was shocked, because as far as i know, there’s no provider in Indonesia that provide 4G service. The latest news that I know is that Telkomsel still testing their LTE (news: 4G LTE Telkomsel Siap Layani KTT APEC 2013) . It turns out PT Internux takes the first action, launching their Bolt 4G (news: Indonesia finally gets a taste of 4G). They claimed that the device can hit up to 72 Mbps. Right now their coverage are in Jabodetabek only. I hope Bolt will hit Bandung soon.

I was about to buy it a week ago, but seeing how long the queue I decided to postpone it. And yesterday I come to Plaza Semanggi so early and I get the 4th queue (Yey!!). First thing to do is to go to speedtest, the result 8.15 Mbps. I don’t know the speed of the other 3G provider, so I can’t tell if it’s good or bad.

Bolt speedtest

After surfing internet a while, I activate my pending torrent, around 400 MB remaining (only activate 1 queue while the other put in pause to save my internet quota), then I go out for dinner. When I got back I’m surprised that the download is already over (I think I only go out for 30 minutes). Okay, this is a great result and I’m satisfied.

Seeking a place to live in Jakarta

A couple months ago I wouldn’t dare to live in Jakarta. The traffic jam, hot temperature, and crime rate, are enough reason for not wanting to live there. But I don’t have much other choices. This is the city where most of the opportunities lies. So, bear with it.

My first dilemma is choosing between a place close to my workplace, or somewhere further. By close I mean, I can reach my workplace by walking less than 20 minutes. I figure a place like that will be more expensive. The further option would force me to use public transport to go to work. Using Trans Jakarta, or Commuter Line maybe. This way, I have more alternative place to live. And perhaps the place would be cheaper. The downside is the time consumed to go to work and to go home, it would be a waste of much time.

So, yesterday I visit Jakarta to find a place near my workplace. After hour and hour walking and asking around, there are two place that caught my attention. A cheap small place, with a bed, a cupboard, and an inside bathroom only. Or the expensive one, wider, nice bed, larger cupboard, a chair and a desk, AC, fast  internet, but cost twice of the cheap one. And this is the second dilemma. My friend give me a good advice, “You will have to choose whether you want a cheap place and be able to buy expensive food, or more expensive (of course more comfortable) place but eat rice and water only.”

I have not decided yet. I need to know the situation of my work. Do i need to continue my work after i get home (more comfortable place would be preferable) or just sleep (a cheap place would be enough). So, i think I’m going to live with my relative for a while. Observe the situation, then make a better decision.

Long time no see, how’s life?

“Hey, long time no see. How’s life?”

That line was said by a friend of mine when we met again after several years. Kinda weird to ask how’s life. How do you do or how are you would be more convenient. Nevertheless, here I am, back again.

Now that’s me making an excuse. Dasar manusia.

Review film, pria-wanita-cinta, seputar kehidupan berkendara, isu-isu yang sedang hot, mimpi, cerita pendek, dan masih banyak ide-ide aneh lainnya untuk ditulis. Not today. Now i’m going to get a good night sleep. See you later.

Sistar19 – Gone Not Around Any Longer

[English Translation]
I didn’t know we would break up so easily
My tears won’t stop flowing

In my bathroom your toothbrush was here then gone
Your strong scent was here then gone
I just wanted to say that I love you
But your number is disconnected now

The pictures in the frame were here then gone
Fallen hair were here then gone
Walking on the road with an empty mind
As tears keep flowing down

I can’t brethe now that you’re now longer here
I can’t even stay because you aren’t with me
I am slowly dying but you’re not here
Anymore anymore anymore

I can’t smile because you’re no longer here
Because you’re not here
I hate seeing myself break down
I have nowhere to depend on now

Why am I withering away like a fool everyday?
Like a darkened flower, without you, I just
Keep saying it’s painful, sad, alone
I fall asleep again crying

I hate to see myself get drunk and stumble
Can’t fight with you even if I want to now
Because you’re gone, because you’re gone
I got no one to talk to now

I can’t brethe now that you’re now longer here
I can’t even stay because you aren’t with me
I am slowly dying but you’re not here
Anymore anymore anymore

I can’t smile because you’re no longer here
Because you’re not here
I hate seeing myself break down
I have nowhere to depend on now

Because you are not around any longer
Please come back to me

Kings of Convenience – Freedom and It’s Owner

“Freedom And Its Owner”

The beauty memories of all the places
Of all the places
We’ve captured with our camera
We’ve seen the pyramids
We’ve seen the Louvre
We’ve seen the Orion upside down
Total eclipses and moonlight shadows
We’ve seen dolphins jumping waves
we’ve ski’ed the mountains and we swam in the rivers
and let the sunlight dry our skins

but freedom, freedom never greater than its owner
freedom is the mastery of the known
freedom, freedom never greater than its owner
no view is wider than the eye

show a view to someone who chose to live his whole life in cave
he’ll raise his arms to protect his eyes from burning
and the blindness to which he belongs
this time it’s me, it’s me
cascades of chances I’ll just let them be
the unfamiliar is right below our eyes
don’t look for what we know
the unfamiliar is right below our eyes

but freedom, freedom never greater than its owner
freedom is the mastery of the known
freedom, freedom never greater than its owner
no view is wider than the eye

The lyrics are beautiful, as if i’m reading a poem.
