I think I’ve gone into zombie mode again. For you who had watched Warm Bodies (2013), imagine me as “R”, the main zombie in this movie. My mind is filled with many thought, of what I want to do, what I need to do, but my body is doing routinity. So, this is me trying to break from the zombie in me. Trying to do what I had in mind, writing in this blog again. I won’t write much right now, but I will keep my appearances.
After saying goodbye to my friend I headed home. I went to the nearest TransJakarta bus station. While I was walking in the bridge, I could see a bus approaching the station. I rush my way to the ticket window. The bus already stopped when i was buying my ticket. By the time I reached the door, the bus already moved away. Damn.
Standing in front of me another unlucky guy. I looked closely to this guy. He was drinking a bottle of water. Then after he finished drinking, he threw away the bottle to the road. “What the!” I said to myself. I jumped to the road. It wasn’t that high, but enough to draw attention from people around. I picked the bottle, and climbed my way to the door again.
“You shouldn’t litter, there’s a trash bag behind you.”
I handed over the bottle to him.
“What do you care!!”
He shouted back at me.
“No wonder Jakarta always flooded every rainy season.”
His right hand grabbed my shirt, while the other getting ready to punch my face. Before he could launch his punch, another guy grabbed his arm. He looked to the guy that stopped him and around, realizing that everyone in this station stared at him. Ashamed by his action, he walk out, left the bus station. I could saw that he throw his punch to the station’s pillar. CIITTT!!! The sound of bus brake woke me from my day dream. I jumped inside to the bus.

My first arrival to Jakarta was around Augustus. Jakarta felt so hot, especially compared to Bandung. It only took a couple meters and I’ve been sweating a lot. Is it because I rarely exercise, or just my body couldn’t stand a hot temperature?
But now, it ain’t feel hot as it was before. Did I already adapt to it? Maybe. Or maybe thanks to the rainy season, that Jakarta temperature dropped. In fact, now I need a blanket to sleep at night.
Back when I was still in college, I always wonder, if i have a girlfriend, where would I get money to go on a date. It’s a shame to use money from my parents. Yet, it didn’t stop me from finding one. There are some ways to gain extra cash (though it’s still not enough)
Now I’ve got a job, a regular income, suddenly I lost interest in finding one. I want to use my money to take care of myself first. There are a lot of things that I want to buy, and I don’t want to increase my expenses by having a girlfriend.
ps: well, this is just one of my justification
It’s been almost 4 months I lived in Jakarta. To save expenses, i decided to not subscribe to any internet provider, except for my mobile phone (I choose the cheapest package for that :)). The problem is, I have very limited access of Internet in my office. At first it was okay, but then I realize the need of internet access. To have access to the latest news, tv series/movie, and more importantly to expand my skill in programming.
A few weeks ago, someone in my office brought a 4G modem. I was shocked, because as far as i know, there’s no provider in Indonesia that provide 4G service. The latest news that I know is that Telkomsel still testing their LTE (news: 4G LTE Telkomsel Siap Layani KTT APEC 2013) . It turns out PT Internux takes the first action, launching their Bolt 4G (news: Indonesia finally gets a taste of 4G). They claimed that the device can hit up to 72 Mbps. Right now their coverage are in Jabodetabek only. I hope Bolt will hit Bandung soon.
I was about to buy it a week ago, but seeing how long the queue I decided to postpone it. And yesterday I come to Plaza Semanggi so early and I get the 4th queue (Yey!!). First thing to do is to go to speedtest, the result 8.15 Mbps. I don’t know the speed of the other 3G provider, so I can’t tell if it’s good or bad.
After surfing internet a while, I activate my pending torrent, around 400 MB remaining (only activate 1 queue while the other put in pause to save my internet quota), then I go out for dinner. When I got back I’m surprised that the download is already over (I think I only go out for 30 minutes). Okay, this is a great result and I’m satisfied.
EMINEM is back!!!!!
Three years after Recovery (2010), Eminem is back with his new album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (2013). The number ‘2’ means that this album is the sequel of his previous album The Marshall Mathers LP (2000). You can tell that it is a sequel after hearing the first song in the album, Bad Guy.
Bad Guy is the sequel of the song Stan from the previous album. Stan is a song about a fan who obsessed with Eminem. Stan is mad because Eminem never replied his letters, and felt ignored, later he kill himself and his pregnant wife by driving over a bridge. The first three verse delivered by Eminem who act as Stan, and the last verse delivered by Eminem which decided to write back to Stan but it was too late. In the sequel, Bad Guy, the first three verse delivered by Eminem who act as Mathhew Mitchell, and the last verse by Eminem. The story of the song take place years after the death of Stan. Matthew Mitchell, the little brother of Stan is older now, and wants revenge againts Eminem. Matthew think that Eminem took advantages from the death of his brother, made it into song, and gain fame from it, in other hand, Matthew suffer from it.
The first single from the album is Berzerk. The way Eminem sing in this song remind me of his rap style from his earlier albums. The next single is Survival which is used to promote Call of Duty: Ghosts. A week after that Eminem release his third single, Rap God. In this song Eminem call himself as Rap God, displaying his rap skill especially in the verse where he raps 97 words in 15 seconds (6.5 word/sec), calling it supersonic speed. The fourth single is The Monster, featuring Rihanna. Eminem’s rap combined with Rihanna’s ballad makes a great song. Aside from The Monster, this album contains many “rap ballad” song e.g. Asshole (ft. Skylar Grey), Headlights (ft. Nate Ruess), and many others.
When I finally got this album, I listen to the song starting from the first to the end. Aside from the single which I have listened before, Stronger Than I Was is the first song that comes to my liking. The song uses the same format as Hailie’s Song, where Eminem sang slowly. Maybe I like this song because I can keep up with the tempo. Another thing to be noticed is the comeback of the “skit”, something that is missing from the Recovery album. The “skit” makes me feel closer to the albums story.
A couple months ago I wouldn’t dare to live in Jakarta. The traffic jam, hot temperature, and crime rate, are enough reason for not wanting to live there. But I don’t have much other choices. This is the city where most of the opportunities lies. So, bear with it.
My first dilemma is choosing between a place close to my workplace, or somewhere further. By close I mean, I can reach my workplace by walking less than 20 minutes. I figure a place like that will be more expensive. The further option would force me to use public transport to go to work. Using Trans Jakarta, or Commuter Line maybe. This way, I have more alternative place to live. And perhaps the place would be cheaper. The downside is the time consumed to go to work and to go home, it would be a waste of much time.
So, yesterday I visit Jakarta to find a place near my workplace. After hour and hour walking and asking around, there are two place that caught my attention. A cheap small place, with a bed, a cupboard, and an inside bathroom only. Or the expensive one, wider, nice bed, larger cupboard, a chair and a desk, AC, fast internet, but cost twice of the cheap one. And this is the second dilemma. My friend give me a good advice, “You will have to choose whether you want a cheap place and be able to buy expensive food, or more expensive (of course more comfortable) place but eat rice and water only.”
I have not decided yet. I need to know the situation of my work. Do i need to continue my work after i get home (more comfortable place would be preferable) or just sleep (a cheap place would be enough). So, i think I’m going to live with my relative for a while. Observe the situation, then make a better decision.
